Barford & the River Avon floods
6th March 2007

The Barford by-pass opened last week and finally the village of Barford has some relief from most of the through traffic that has plagued it for years. However in its first week following torrential rain the River Avon decided to overflow its bnanks and the valley looked more like a lake than a small river.

Moving a bit further north the floodwaters can be seen flowing through this relief channel. I had originally thought that there was no need for this channel but having seen the floods this week I've revised my thoughts.
