Come with me on a walk around Claverdon

After a wet start to the day last Sunday the afternoon turned out bright and sunny. A walk through the countryside around Claverdon was essential.

After taking the footpath across this field I headed into the woods...

After walking through the woods I found this house on Yarningale Lane was for sale. I checked the price - £1.1m!

 The road turns into a footpath which continues down to the Stratford canal. The architecture of the lock keepers houses was unique to this canal. This is Bucket Lock Cottage. I didn't manage to catch a shot that included their indoor swimming pool.

 Its a very narrow set of locks.

I always think of Harrison Ford and Callista Flockhart who (apparently) hired a barge and travelled this canal a couple of years ago.

On the other side of the A4189 we see the barge appear into the bright sunshine

 Some canalside bulrushes and the barge was travelling slower than walking speed.

 Some swans appeared and were fed from the barge.

My route was supposed to be through this field full of bullocks. I thought something with a very similar word and found a detour through some other fields....Call me chicken if you like but I don't know how aggresive they can get.

 In the middle of the field was a dead cygnet. It was under some overhead cables so must have crashed...
